“Dressing the Stars”, Sunday, February 4th, Lebanon

Opera North’s Always ON Sunday series of four intimate afternoons, Featuring Opera Insights,  will begin Februray 4th

LEBANON, NH – Opera North is pleased to announce Always ON Sunday, a series of four intimate afternoons that will provide educational and entertaining insights into the history and production of operas. The series will run from February 4 to March 4.

Locations will vary around the Upper Valley. Each event begins at 2 pm.

  • February 4 – Dressing the Stars – Opera North’s office (Lebanon)

Costume Designer Jack Maisenbach will discuss everything from concept to design to fabric and construction. You saw his work for Tosca (2016), La belle Helene and Madama Butterfly (2017), and he returns to Opera North this summer for Tales of Hoffmann.

  • February 11 – Tales of Hoffmann, an Enigmatic Masterpiece – Coldwell Banker (Hanover)

Opera North Artistic Director Louis Burkot and noted dramaturge Peter Webster will have a lively conversation about Offenbach’s “opera fantastique.”

  • February 25 – A Musical Salon – at the home of Rita and Bill Post (Woodstock)

An afternoon of great vocal music featuring a very personal recital with mezzo soprano Cara Collins, a 2017 Opera North Resident Artist who returns in 2018 in the wonderfully comic role of Berta in Barber of Seville.

  • March 4 – Coach’s Corner – at the home of Louis Burkot and Maria Laskaris (Hanover)

Take an insightful and exciting journey into how vocal technique and interpretative skill bring arias to life. Listen and watch as Artistic Director Louis Burkot coaches a young singer.

The gatherings will be entertaining and enlightening, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the history, music and technical aspects of what goes into an Opera North production.
