John Matusz was born in the late ‘40s by the Mohawk River Valley in upstate New York. His artistic development began at an early age. From his knack for drawing he progressed to painting and the study of space and structure on canvas. In 1969 Matusz received formal welding training which accelerated his interest in sculpture. Over the years Matusz has become a skilled craftsman who employs modern technology and welding methods with traditional enduring materials to create sublime sculptures for indoor and outdoor spaces.

This is Matusz’s 8th solo exhibition. His work has been exhibited throughout New England as well as Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, California, and Mexico. He has received several prestigious awards including a 1st Place Award for Sculpture in the SEABA Art Exhibition in Burlington, Vermont. Matusz is currently represented by West Branch Gallery & Sculpture Park in Stowe, VT; Kathleen Knight Gallery in Nantucket, MA; Art In The Valley Gallery in Warren, VT; and Bundy Modern in Waitsfield, VT.
