All Is Calm

Coming to Briggs Opera House

December 14 and 15.

Treat yourself to an unusual Christmas production by Opera North—All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1917.  ‘Soldiers on the front lines, far from home, missing and being missed by loved ones during the Christmas season, are enduring and melancholy symbols of American culture, from the country’s own Civil War through modern day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Old newsreels and contemporary videos always show soldiers trying to make the best of it, gathering wherever they find themselves to celebrate the holiday with their fellow brothers-(and later, sisters-) in-arms.’ (Susan Apel)

Here is a link to a preview, complete with video of Silent Night being sung in Grand Central Terminal in NYC.   https://herecast.us/985443
