The Village at White River Junction

Artist-in-Residence 2018 Request for Proposals

The Village at White River Junction is excited to announce a call for residency proposals for our Artist-inResidence (AIR) program. The Village at White River Junction is a state-of-the art, high-end senior living community currently under construction in downtown White River Junction, VT and scheduled to open in September 2018.

Mission
To create a unique, purpose-built model for Assisted Living and Memory Care that incorporates and is incorporated within the surrounding historic community. Superior design and management will create a “vertical main street” that combines with a walkable downtown to provide a wealth of social and cultural experiences for residents.

Artist-in-Residence Mission
To create a community of seniors integrated with the outside community of our property, incorporate and value multi-generational interactions, stimulate self-expression, provide inspiration from a working artist within the daily flow of our community, and to transmute energy in and out and through the artistic building.

Vision – Gates & Dickson
To allow and encourage elders to live rich, full, vibrant lives in a beautiful, home-like atmosphere, with generous facilities for stimulation and relaxation for residents, friends, and families. Extensive and creative programming will bring artists and artisans into the building for performances and workshops, while residents have ample opportunities to enjoy the amenities within White River Junction.

Program Overview
The artist-in-residence program aims to provide an opportunity for our community to observe and interact with a professional artist. The program is open to visual and performing artists, writers, and musicians. The artist will work in The Village at White River Junction approximately 20 hours per week, including open studio hours. The schedule will be determined between the artist and the Director of Life Enrichment. The artist will lead classes, workshops, discussions, or performances in their art at least 3 times per month. The artist will eat 5 meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, per week with our residents and engage our residents in conversation about their art.
