Scott Gordon – Unintended Objects – Exhibit opening Friday, June 8th, 5-7PM, AVA Gallery

Unintended Objects

an exhibition of steel sculpture and assemblage by artist Scott Gordon of Norwich, Vermont

June 8 – July 16

Opening June 8th at 5PM

Gordon is drawn to distressed steel that has been scarred, bent, and made imperfect. Through his creative process, the industrial nature of steel in construction, manufacturing, and war remains present. Steel is forged with enormous energy through a loud and violent process yet Gordon’s work manages to harness that power to create work that is both still and approachable.

“The compositions are constructed mainly from found parts. Their relationships manifest as I interact with the material. The pieces interlock, balance, and become fitted before I fasten or weld them together. – Scott Gordon, 2018

Gordon has exhibited in Norwich and White River Junction, Vermont. He has work held in private collections throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York.

His work will be exhibited in the Rebecca Lawrence Gallery and the Clifford B. West Gallery at AVA Gallery and Art Center from June 8 – July 6, 2018. The opening reception on Friday, June 8th from 5-7pm is free and open to the public.
