Roads Taken,

an exhibition of extraordinary oil paintings by artist Pennie Brantley

June 8 – July 6, 2018

Artist talk at 4pm on Friday, June 8th before the opening reception begins at 5pm

Brantley, an avid traveler, is conscious of the irony that her attraction to painting architecture free of the human figure is inspired by a keen awareness of those who have made or inhabited those spaces.

“The images that stir my need to paint them have made me more intensely aware of the connectedness people share. They contain evidence of a lineage of humans we can no longer see physically, but who have left an imprint and residual spirit in the world that they, too, occupied. ...”- Pennie Brantley, 2018

A Missouri native, Brantley currently lives in the Taconic Mountains of New York. Brantley’s paintings have been exhibited in museums, art centers, and galleries nationally and internationally for four decades.

This exhibit is in the E. N. Wennberg Gallery at AVA Gallery June 8 – July 6, 2018. The artist talk and opening reception are free and open to the public.
