Aidron Duckworth Museum presents,
EXPERIMENTAL PUPPETRY: KATE BREHM – POOFS!!!
POOFS!!! are a creation of puppeteer Kate Brehm. Brehm is a movement
director specializing in performing objects, trained in the Margolis Method
of Physical Theater. Her company, imnotlost has produced madcap projects in
NYC since 2003, including: Discrepancies, Things Fall Apart, Dark Space,
The Eye Which We Do Not Have, and Meditation Zero.
She has worked as a puppetry associate since 2005 for MacArthur genius
Basil Twist. She developed and/or performed for him in Charlie and the
Chocoloate Factory, Dorothy and the Prince of Oz, Sister’s Follies, The
Rite of Spring, Dogugaeshi, Petrushka, and the site-specific Seafoam
Sleepwalk.
Friday Sept. 28, 7-10pm
Poof sewing circle. Free. All invited.
This is a very chill gathering of anyone and everyone who wants to help sew a new poof puppet. Stop by the museum anytime between 7 and 10. Feel free to bring extra sewing supplies.
Saturday Sept. 29, 1-4pm
Performance Intervention Workshop $10, 18yrs+ or accompanied by an adult.
Learn to perform with the Poofs! This workshop will include some simple dance/theater movement exercises and a discussion of how live art can contribute to community. Following this introduction the group will choose a site for live engagement and take some interactive art out for a spin around town. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in and also get dirty.
Saturday Sept. 29, 7-10pm
Poof Party, “What Kind of Sound Does a Poof Make?” All invited, donations welcome.
Do you know what sound a giraffe makes? How about an iguana? Well, tonight we will discover, with your help, what kind of a sound a poof makes! This is a new interactive Poof art installation where the artists and the community explore what kind of sounds a poof might make and why. Come out and party with the poofs!
