Do you live for Octoberfest and the strains of oom-pah music floating through the air? Looking for an excuse to pull your band instrument out of the closet and play again? Or maybe you need to spice up your musical life by playing with new people!
The Upper Valley Music Center invites you to Sing & Play Festival on May 18, 2-6 pm, taking place at UVMC, 8 South Park Street, and next door at the Congregational Church, in Lebanon. The festival includes performances, jams, pick-up ensembles, and family activities, all free and open to the community.
From 2:30-3:30 pm, conductor Mark Nelson will lead a pick-up band for an hour of sight reading oom-pah music. No preparation involved- just show up with your instrument (and a stand, if you have one), grab a part, and join the ensemble! Make music with others from your community of all ages and backgrounds. We’ll meet in the Parish Hall at First Congregational Church of Lebanon. Listeners are also very welcome!
While you’re here, you can enjoy performances by the UV Chamber Orchestra and UVMC youth ensembles, grab some yummy food truck treats, enjoy a afternoon of community music-making!
