 Interplay Jazz & Arts –

Monthly Jam Session this Thursday

Interplay Jazz & Arts Third Thursday Jam Session
Thursday, February 20, 6:30 – 9:30 PM
Private home in Hanover
Please register at the website and you will receive the specific address.

The  jam session starts at 6:30 PM, and we encourage instrumentalists to participate in a free flow session to develop new material (music) and play together. The instrumental jam may be based upon existing songs or forms, may be loosely based on an agreed chord progression or chart suggested by one participant, or may be wholly improvisational.

Continuing at 7:30 PM, vocalists are encouraged to bring well known jazz standards,  popular songs or an original tune in their key to play with the instrumentalists, creating arrangements and improvisation in real time!

Interplay’s jam sessions are used as a social gatherings and communal practice session. People often ask, “What is a jam session?” A jam session is a relatively informal musical event, process, or activity where musicians, typically instrumentalists, play improvised solos and vamp on tunes, songs and chord progressions. To “jam” is to  improvise music without extensive preparation or predefined arrangements, except for when the group is playing well-known jazz standards or covers of existing popular songs.”

Attendance at these Third Thursday Jazz Jam Sessions is free and open to everyone. Audience members are encouraged to attend and enjoy!

Everyone is encouraged to bring a finger food or beverage to share. Please RSVP on the website so we can know how many will be coming to play or listen. https://interplayjazzandarts.org/jam-sessions/

Fred Haas and Sabrina Brown Sabrina created Interplay Jazz Camp almost 25 years ago, and all of us at Interplay will be celebrating this amazing milestone at Jazz Camp this coming June, at Kimball Union Academy from June 20 – June 28, 2020. We hope that you will celebrate with us and attend camp as student or as an attendee at one of our several faculty and student performances.
