Meet the Artist – A Winter 2018 Film Series

In The Realms Of The Unreal: The Mystery Of Henry Darger (2004, 80min.)
Henry Darger, an elderly recluse, spent his childhood in an Illinois asylum for “feeble-minded” children and his adulthood working as a janitor. It was only after his death in 1973 that the rich imaginative world he created in his small single room apartment in Chicago was discovered. He is now considered one of the greatest self-taught visionary artists of the 20th century.

Thursday, March 8, 7pm
Joseph Cornell: Worlds In A Box (1991, 43min.)
An exploration of the life and aesthetics of one of the most unique and important 20th century American artists. As a bonus 2 short Cornell-related films will also be screened.

All film screenings are free and open to the public.

AVA Gallery and Art Center, located at 11 Bank Street, Lebanon, NH, is pleased to present its Winter 2018 film series. All films begin at 7:00pm, and refreshments are provided. This film series, curated by AVA artist and experimental filmmaker Rich Fedorchak, will take place in AVA’s Clifford B. West Gallery.
