This year’s show, Marrakech to Mumbai: Dances of the People, focuses on the concept of social and community connection in dances from the Middle East and beyond. With over 70 dancers, the show features works from Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Italy, Turkey, Iran, and India, as well as Special Guests, the Upper Valley Chinese Dance Group.  See fiery North African hair flips, non-stop Kabyle shimmies, Silifke Spoon dance, rhythmic Dandiya sticks, the mysterious Dance of the Spider Bite, as well as party dance from Persian, Romany, Greek, Moroccan, Egyptian traditions and more. Marrakech to Mumbaidelights the audience with an explosion of color and festivity.

The Raqs Salaam Dance Theater’s Annual Showcase is an Upper Valley tradition – family-friendly, entertaining, educational, and timely in its message of celebrating the cultures of the Middle East and beyond.
