Lebanon Opera House Receives

Public Value Partnership Grant from New Hampshire State Council on the Arts

Lebanon Opera House is pleased to announce it has received a two year $9,500 grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

The general operating grant will support LOH’s investment in the community.

LOH presents well-known touring artists in rock, pop, blues, Celtic, comedy and more; but close to 90 percent of the organization’s work is focused on community and education. The overriding goal for Lebanon Opera House is continue to provide a home for not only concerts by the likes of Cindy Lauper and Barenaked Ladies, but for the entire community from three year old ballerinas and young opera professionals to amateur actors and 80 year old flutists.

Every year, LOH invests more than $50,000 in organizations like North Country Community Theatre, Opera North, City Center Ballet, Upper Valley Community Band and countless others in the way of greatly reduced venue rental fees, technical assistance, box office services and more. Grants and philanthropic support allows the organization to charge far less than the “fair market value” for the use of the venue. Without such discounts LOH would be out of financial reach for many nonprofits, so this operating grant is so much more than philanthropy to a single organization. It supports of the efforts of dozens of area schools, arts groups and nonprofit organizations.

The New Hampshire State Council on the Arts provides a wide variety of services, competitive grants, and technical assistance to non-profit organizations, schools, health care facilities and to individual artists, helping to ensure that the arts thrive in New Hampshire and are accessible to all. Funding for grants and services is provided by the New Hampshire Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
